  • John Mateo began his formal work career on Wall Street after graduating from business school. His finance career in New York was dedicated to what is now called private equity. He moved to San Francisco in 1989 and started his career in commercial real estate appraisal in 1990. He received his MAI designation in 1996. During his career he has worked for CBRE’s valuation practice. He has also contracted with several local appraisal firms including (among others) Hamilton, Ricci & Associates and Hanford Healy. Since 2003 he has been the principal of his own appraisal firm. In 2013 he founded Mateo Advisors, LLC. Specific areas of expertise include: arbitration, expert testimony and the valuation of special purpose properties, affordable housing, master planned communities (including CFDs), partial interests, estate and tax-related assignments.

    Mr. Mateo was employed by GMACCM for three years in the late 1990s, overseeing the creation of highly automated valuation techniques. Some of the technology innovations developed during this period are used in Mateo Advisors’ systems and IT infrastructure.

    LEGAL QUALIFICATIONS

    Qualified as an expert witness, Superior Court of San Francisco and Marin Counties.

  • A longtime Californian, Charles Glynn began his commercial real estate career after completing a graduate degree in business administration and studying for a certificate in urban planning. He received his MAI in 1995. During his 26 years as a commercial appraiser, he has appraised most forms of commercial property. His practice is primarily focused in Northern California. He has worked with a variety of commercial appraisal firms including Hamilton, Simons & Associates in San Francisco, and AGI Valuations. In 1996 he formed his own practice. His areas of expertise include: conservation easements, right-of-way and eminent domain, feasibility studies, specialty real estate consulting, and litigation support.
